"Never doubt that a small group of
thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed,
it's the only thing that ever has."
– Margaret Mead
AFFA Operating Principals
We welcome anyone who supports our mission and quest for
civil rights and social justice, without regard to sexual
and gender orientation, race, gender, political persuasion,
religion, physical ability or age.
We lead in bringing civil and social justice issues of
sexual and gender orientation to the forefront in our local,
state and national communities.
We conduct ourselves in a manner to educate rather than
to alienate.
We maintain that gays and lesbians morally, ethically
and legally must be accorded their full rights as American
citizens and assert that there are no special rights being
asked for or expected.
We are supportive of like-minded organizations in
efforts of mutual concern, creating partnerships with local,
state and national organizations toward a wide network for
education and influence.
We seek dialogue with people who are open to learning more
about sexual and gender orientation, or who are not
resistant to learning more, or who may be encouraged to
learn more.
We solicit members from among those leading emotionally
healthy and responsible lives, who give to their community,
their professions, their families and their spiritual lives.
We hold our officers, board members and membership to
high ethical standards of truth, fairness and integrity in
all activities both within and outside of the organization.
We encourage, value and respect each member’s
contribution.
We cultivate a strong sense of organization loyalty.
We create opportunities for personal and professional
growth.
