5 Things to Know - 07/01/26

1. Thank you for an unforgettable Pride Month

Pride 2026 was one for the books—and we couldn't have done it without you.

AFFA was present at 12 Pride events and festivals in the month of June across South Carolina, from Park Circle to Myrtle Beach to Greenville, connecting with community, celebrating joy, and showing up for LGBTQ+ South Carolinians everywhere.

We were also honored to be one of two proud honorees at more than 60 events throughout the month, alongside our incredible partners at We Are Family Charleston. Thank you for celebrating with us, for showing up, and for making this Pride season one we'll never forget.

2. Have you seen our newest media campaign?

June may be coming to a close, but the conversations are just getting started.

We recently launched a new media campaign highlighting intergenerational unity across our community—because we are stronger when we stay connected across ages, experiences, and identities.

Head to our social channels for short clips, and visit our YouTube for the full episodes of these powerful conversations. Our final two episodes drop this Friday at 11 AM, featuring:

  • A conversation on gender expression in the South – with Alejandra and Sierra

  • A conversation on parenting in the LGBTQ+ community – with Courtney and our very own Ashley Peele

3. Let's get physical!

We're keeping the energy going after an incredible month of celebration with a special offer!

Join AFFA for a HIIT workout at Barry's Charleston, because holistic health includes physical wellness, community connection, and showing up for each other. This is a chance to sweat, encourage one another, and continue the Pride energy through the summer months.

The first 20 registrants get in free! So don't wait.

4. The resources you need are just a click away!

Did you know AFFA maintains an ever-updating, interactive map of LGBTQ+ competent providers and services across South Carolina?

Our Resource Hub features dozens of:

  • Nonprofits and community organizations

  • Legal resources and advocates

  • Medical providers and therapists

  • Mental health support services

  • And so much more!

This list of trusted providers and services has been thoughtfully curated by our team. Know of a resource that should be added to our map? Reach out to us at info@affa-sc.org to recommend a source providing informed, inclusive, and culturally competent care.
