2. Total Abortion Ban Hearing Recap

H.3457 (Total Abortion Ban) – This bill would impose a total abortion ban in South Carolina, putting pregnant people at extreme risk by denying them essential healthcare. The room was packed with over 100 people in opposition, with 33 testimonies against the ban and only 7 in support. Many were unable to testify due to time constraints but were encouraged to submit written testimony. If you’d like to submit yours, email our colleagues at WREN for more information. You can also contact your representatives here.

This bill was not voted on, and we'll update you with new information as we receive it.

3. Anti-DEI Bill Hearing Recap

H.3927 (Anti-DEI Bill) – This bill seeks to ban diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs in public schools, higher education, and state agencies. After the House adjourned, the hearing lasted over 4.5 hours, with not a single person testifying in support. The demand for space was so high that two overflow rooms filled up, and people lined up outside the Blatt Building to make their voices heard. You can learn more about H.3927 on the ACLU of SC website and contact your representatives here to take action.

This bill was not voted on, and we'll update you with new information as we receive it.
