5 Things to Know - 4/8/2026
1. One Million Views!
The first installment of our Love Lives Here billboard campaign received 998,383 impressions.
That's nearly one million moments of seeing LGBTQ+ love, joy, and authenticity reflected back at our community, right here in the Palmetto State.
Our Love Lives Here campaign went up on billboards across South Carolina to send a simple but powerful message: we are here. We are families, couples, neighbors, and friends. We choose to live in a state we love, a state worth fighting for. The response has been overwhelming and beautiful, proof that visibility matters. But here's the thing: we're just getting started.
Today, we invite you to pause. Think about the love that sustains you—the partner who holds your hand, the friend who shows up, the chosen family that reminds you who you are. Hold onto that joy. Let it fuel you. Because these are difficult times, but we've never been the kind of community to back down.
Nearly one million views. And we're not stopping now.
2. Share Your Story campaign
Help us challenge efforts to harm South Carolina's LGBTQ+ community. AFFA Action is building a statewide movement by documenting real experiences in schools, workplaces, healthcare, housing, and public spaces. Whether you've faced discrimination or witnessed something that needs attention, your voice matters.
Share your story—anonymously if you prefer—to inform advocacy, guide legal strategy, and build the case for change. We'll never share your story without permission.
You can submit your story here.
3. Join us at the United We Thrive Rally!
Surround the SC Statehouse with us as we rise up against anti-LGBTQ+ and anti-reproductive right bills being heard on April 14th in the House and Senate. We want legislators to see HUNDREDS of South Carolinians protesting on their way into work Tuesday morning. Bring a sign, bring a friend, bring your passion for justice and rights for ALL South Carolinians.
United We THRIVE will not only be a place to show up and use your voice, but also include resource tables from organizations throughout SC, speakers, snacks, and music from DJ Wandergirl.
Tuesday, April 14 | 8:30 AM - 12 PM
SC Statehouse, West Grounds
